Davidmac Olisa Ekeocha is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Sustainable Futures, De Montfort University, and received his PhD in Economics from the University of Liverpool. His research sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, energy systems, and energy economics, using structural models and causal inference to answer questions such as: How does AI adoption affect electricity markets, grid reliability, and carbon emissions? How should energy policy adapt to AI-driven load growth from data centers? And how can energy and environmental regulations be designed to expand access and protect vulnerable communities? His earlier and ongoing work applies field experiments, Bayesian econometrics, and natural experiments to study renewable energy microgrids in Africa, the emissions effects of regulatory cost shocks on firms, and the link between modern energy access and human capital. His work appears in The Energy Journal, with papers under review at leading economics and management journals.
